Registration of non-Russian citizens during FIFA Confederations Cup
This summer Russia will host the international football tournament 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup. Due to this event, the President of Russia Vladimir Putin has adopted Decree № 202 that temporarily changes the rules of registration of foreign nationals in a number of Russian cities. The decree applies not only to fans traveling to Russia to see the football matches, but to any foreigners (including highly qualified specialists), who come to Russia during the period from June 1 to July 12, 2017.
Companies operating in such cities as Moscow, Saint-Petersburg, Sochi, and Kazan will only have one day (from the date of arrival of a foreign national) for migration registration of their foreign workers. The required documents must be submitted directly to the local office of migration registration of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs.
There are few exceptions to the rules: they do not apply to the participants of the Confederations Cup tournament (i.e., players, referees, coaches, etc.), as well FIFA affiliated organizations and representatives, confederations, and national football associations included in the FIFA lists.
Our specialists recommend taking these changes into account and, if necessary, will be happy to assist you with the matters of foreign employees’ registration in Moscow and Saint Petersburg.
